Meet Albert

Alwyn Wils is a 45 year old man who decided to see what would happen if you incubate quail eggs found in the supermarket. As it turns out..a little bit of magic. Just one of the 12 eggs hatched after about 1 month of incubation.

The chick, named Albert, was purchased at a small supermarket in Haarlem, Netherlands, by 45-year-old Alwyn Wils.

Mr Wils brought the eggs home and immediately placed them all in an incubator. Thankfully he also decided to document the process on film.

Mr Wils: “Albert is a one in a million. To get a fertilised egg one obviously needs both a male and female. Since the males don’t produce any eggs and the females lay her unfertilised eggs without the need for a male, eggs are rarely fertilised when they get to the supermarkets.”
