If you still haven’t heard the name Tom ‘FireKid’ Duquesnoy, that all looks set to change very shortly.

Duquesnoy, the current BAMMA bantamweight and featherweight world champion, is on the verge of inking a deal with the UFC according to reports emerging today from the fighter’s home country of France.

The ‘FireKid’ is considered by many to not just be one of the top MMA prospects fighting on the European scene, but one of the most promising fighters fighters in the world not yet signed to a major promotion.

Duquesnoy, 23, is 14-1 (with one ‘no contest’) in his MMA career with the sole loss coming to current UFC fighter Makwan Amirkhani four years ago.

Niall McGrath of SevereMMA.com has reported that, while no deal has been signed as of yet, terms of the arrangement are due to be agreed in the coming days and the Frenchman is expected to make his octagon debut on April 15th. Duquesnoy has been the object of the UFC’s attention for some time, with reports suggesting that he has turned down at least two approaches from the UFC in recent times.

Duquesnoy, who trains out of the Jackson-Wink gym in Albuquerque alongside the likes of Jon Jones and Holly Holm, was last in action at BAMMA 27 in Dublin in December where he defended his bantamweight title against Alan Philpott, winning with a second round rear naked choke.

There has been no word yet as to an opponent for Duquesnoy’s UFC debut but you can expect to hear more on that, as well as confirmation of his signing, in the coming days.

You can watch Duquesnoy’s bout against Alan Philpott from last December below.
