Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg took home gold and silver medals at his first-ever Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament in California, the Facebook co-founder detailed on the social media platform Instagram.

Zuckerberg, who has frequently detailed his appreciation of combat sports on social media in recent month, represented the Guerrilla BJJ team at a competitive tournament in close to Silicon Valley in California. “Competed in my first jiu jitsu tournament and won some medals for the Guerrilla Jiu Jitsu team,” Zuckerberg wrote, along with a series of photographs showing him in action.

Zuckerberg took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu during the Covid-19 pandemic and his since trained closely alongside the likes of Dave Camarillo; a name which will be familiar to MMA fans due to his association with the American Kickboxing Academy team in San Jose, California.

A host of fighters congratulated Zuckerberg on his achievement, including the likes of Merab Dvalishvili, Mackenzie Dern, Israel Adesanya and Kiefer Crosbie, while UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski noted that the shorts being worn by Zuckerberg were apparently a gift from the Australian fighter.

Last September, Zuckerberg posted footage online which showed him training in mixed martial arts while he was also spotted cageside at the UFC’s Apex facility outside Las Vegas for a fight card several months ago.
