Robert Whittaker wants another go at the UFC’s middleweight championship.

The title, currently in South Africa on the mantle of reigning champion Dricus du Plessis, formerly rested around the waist of Whittaker before he dropped it in 2019 to Israel Adesanya — and since then, Whittaker has made clear his intentions to become a two-time champion.

Since that title loss, Whittaker has been defeated just twice — against Adesanya again and to Du Plessis — but should be become the first man in the UFC to hand a loss to the four-time Combat Sambo world champion Aliskerov, he will be well on his way.

Whittaker has overcome significant obstacles in the past, too: one being the former Olympic wrestler Yoel Romero, whom he holds two victories over.
