Nate Diaz has fuelled speculation over a potential return to the UFC after posting a cryptic message on social media, as uncertainty continues over the line-up for the promotion’s planned White House event in June.
UFC president Dana White has vowed that the White House card, due to take place in June as part of celebrations marking 250 years of the United States, will be the most-watched event in the company’s three-decade history. The UFC CEO has also intimated that matchmaking discussions are set to begin this week for the event, with Diaz seeming to become the latest to put his hand up, saying that he has “unfinished business” in the UFC.
“Let’s not act like I didn’t start a whole division bringing value to all these guys claiming they’re it,” Diaz wrote on social media. “I gave opportunity and put notice on the dopest fights. I got unfinished business, and I plan on going and taking what’s mine asap 1st to ever start a division and the dopest one at that. You’re welcome motherf**kers. I’ll see you soon, I’m coming.”
Diaz has not fought in the UFC since 2022, when he exited the promotion with a submission victory over Tony Ferguson. Since then, he has boxed twice, losing to Jake Paul before defeating former UFC rival Jorge Masvidal. Conor McGregor, who has long been linked with a trilogy bout against Diaz, has not competed since suffering a broken leg in 2021, while White this week ruled out a White House clash between the Irishman and Colby Covington.
Meanwhile, the BMF title that Diaz also seemed to refer to is currently held by Max Holloway, who is scheduled to defend the belt against Charles Oliveira on March 7th at lightweight. With Diaz having largely competed at welterweight in the latter stages of his UFC career, potential opponents for a return remain unclear as White and matchmaker Mick Maynard continue discussions over the historic White House card.
