Brock Lesnar’s return to the UFC took came closer on Sunday night when the former UFC heavyweight champion was relieved of the WWE title he held as the company’s ‘SummerSlam’ pay-per-view, paving a way for Lesnar to commit full-time to a training regimen to challenge Daniel Cormier for the UFC heavyweight title.

If, as expected, the Cormier v. Lesnar fight happens early next year it will be Lesnar’s first mixed martial arts bout since a July 2016 fight with Mark Hunt at UFC 200. Lesnar was initially ruled the victor by judges’ decision but the result was overturned to a no-contest after Lesnar was found to have failed a USADA mandated drug test in the lead-in.

Ever since, and frankly before that too, accusations of Lesnar usage of performance enhancers have been rife – and as Daniel Cormier suggested on Twitter during Sunday’s ‘SummerSlam’ event, Lesnar isn’t exactly as musclebound now that he’s once again in the USADA testing panel.

“Old Brock is looking smaller thru the middle,” Cormier wrote on Twitter. “He getting ready to really come and get that ass whipped!!!! Have fun in this WWE title match because when we clash I’m in that ass!!!!”

After Lesnar was defeated by Roman Reigns, Cormier fired another shot.

“No more title now he can come and chase mine!!!! Sorry Brock Lesnar, the result will be the same!!!!”
