Michael Page will not be offered a new UFC contract following the completion of his current deal, UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed.
Page fought out his contract with a victory over Nursulton Ruziboev in Paris last weekend, improving his UFC record to five wins from six appearances. The former Bellator welterweight contender was subsequently removed from eligibility for the UFC rankings before White confirmed his departure from the promotion.
“That was his last fight on his contract,” said White, according to MMA Mania. “I don’t think we’re re-signing him, no. What’s the confusion? I think it’s been pretty clear that he wasn’t being re-signed, and that he would be taken out of the rankings because he’s no longer on the roster.”
Page’s final UFC appearance saw him defeat Ruziboev over three rounds, although the contest drew a negative reaction from sections of the crowd in Paris. Page landed 12 significant strikes across the 15-minute bout, with an oblique kick in the second round causing a knee injury to Ruziboev.
The 39-year-old will now enter free agency after his UFC run comes to an end. No indication has yet been given as to where Page could compete next following his departure from the promotion.
Page joined the UFC after a lengthy spell with Bellator and went on to compete at both welterweight and middleweight inside the Octagon. He leaves the organisation having won five of his six UFC fights, with his only defeat coming against Ian Machado Garry by unanimous decision.
