UFC 303 just got a little more Irish.
After drawing a blank in his campaign to secure a high profile showdown with three-time former welterweight title challenger Colby Covington, Dublin’s Ian Machado Garry has finally secured himself a place on the late June UFC 303 card to be headlined by Conor McGregor’s return to action opposite Michael Chandler.
It was confirmed over the weekend following suggestions from both fighters that a bout agreement was near that Machado Garry will put his unbeaten professional record on the line against former Bellator standout Michael ‘Venom’ Page.
The fight will be placed on the main card, but it appears likely at this stage that the co-main event will still feature former 205-pound champion Jamahal Hill, who will fight New Zealand’s Carlos Ulberg after original opponent Khalil Rountree was scrubbed from the bout following a drug-testing violation.
Machado Garry will look to improve his UFC record to a perfect 8-0 (15-0 overall) in the bout against veteran striker ‘MVP’, who won his UFC debut several weeks ago against Kevin Holland. Page’s overall career record stands at an impressive 22-2.
