If Ian Machado Garry needs any grappling advice ahead of his clash this weekend with Shavkat Rakhmonov, he has picked one of the best people possible.

The undefeated Irishman faces the (also unbeaten) Kazakh fighter at this weekend’s UFC 310 in Las Vegas with the winner to jump to the top of line to take on the 170-pound champion Belal Muhammad next year.

The bout, which Garry took on short notice, will be his latest performance following his collaboration with the famed Chute Boxe camp in Brazil — where he has forged a formidable partnership with the former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, who will accompany Garry to the cage in Sin City on Saturday night.

“I read a stat the other day: Charles Oliveira went to the fourth round for the first time in his career after his 46th UFC fight,” Garry said in a video posted to his YouTube channel, per BJPenn.com. “That’s insane! The guy is a machine!

“I f*cking love and adore Charles Oliveira with all of my heart. He is absolutely the most entertaining fighter in the UFC. Man, he has never been in an unentertaining fight. He’s an absolute savage. I love him, and he’s going to be in my corner for this fight.”

Oliveira’s advice will surely be an asset to Garry ahead (and during) the Rakhmonov fight, given the Kazakh’s capacity to finish fights — he has never gone to decision in 18 performances, which includes 10 submission finihes.
