Paddy Pimblett has proposed coaching opposite longtime rival Ilia Topuria on a future season of The Ultimate Fighter before the pair meet in a lightweight bout.

The UFC reality series recently completed its 34th season, with Pimblett suggesting his rivalry with former featherweight and lightweight champion Topuria could help renew interest in the long-running show. The two have exchanged words for several years but have yet to meet in the octagon, with their respective careers previously taking place on different paths.

“I’d love to do The Ultimate Fighter,” said Pimblett, per MMA Fighting. “I remember a couple of years ago, [Renato] Moicano saying to do The Ultimate Fighter with me. That would have been great television, but now I would love to do The Ultimate Fighter with Ilia Topuria.”

“I would have his head in the shed for six weeks,” said Pimblett. “He wouldn’t know where to look, he wouldn’t know what to say, I’d have him feeling awkward constantly.”

Topuria has since moved permanently to lightweight, where he won the vacant UFC title against Charles Oliveira before losing the belt to Justin Gaethje. Pimblett, meanwhile, returned from his first UFC defeat with a 52-second submission victory over Benoit Saint Denis at UFC 329, potentially opening the door for the two rivals to finally meet.

“Me and Ilia would bring the ratings back to The Ultimate Fighter, like Season 10 with Rampage and Rashad,” said Pimblett. “So yeah, if you’re going to do a season of The Ultimate Fighter and you want coaches who are actually still fighting, because the last few haven’t, do me vs. Ilia and we’ll bring The Ultimate Fighter back. It’ll be a reincarnation.”
