Khamzat Chimaev has offered Sean Strickland $1 million to fight him as he continues to pursue a rematch with the UFC middleweight champion.
Strickland handed Chimaev the first defeat of his professional career in May, earning a split decision in the main event of UFC 328 to claim the middleweight title. Chimaev has since called for another meeting, although Nassourdine Imavov appears to be in line for the next title opportunity.
“I will pay you 1 [million dollars],” said Chimaev in a message directed at Strickland on social media, as noted by MMA Fighting.
“Send me location and let’s fight, don’t care outside inside the cage,” Chimaev added.
No rematch between the pair has been announced, while Strickland has yet to respond publicly to Chimaev’s latest message. With Imavov potentially next in line for a championship opportunity, Chimaev may have to wait for another chance to face Strickland inside the UFC.
Chimaev and Strickland had a heated build-up to their UFC 328 encounter before appearing to put their differences aside following the fight. The pair have since exchanged further comments through the media, with Chimaev now making clear that he remains interested in facing Strickland again regardless of whether the middleweight title is involved.
