On December 30th, Team Alpha Male fighter Cody Garbrandt gets a chance to succeed where some of his present and former training partners have failed: to defeat bantamweight king Dominick Cruz.

Garbrandt has been unstoppable since entering the UFC ranks in January of 2015, earning wins over Marcus Brimage, Henry Briones and Augusto Mendes in his first three — but it is his two most recent performances against then-undefeated Thomas Almeida and Japanese veteran Takeya Mizugaki which have served notice that ‘No Love’ is ready for a shot at 135-pound gold.

Interestingly, Mizugaki is a common opponent between both Cruz and Garbrandt. Cruz took just over a minute to beat the Japanese in his injury comeback fight way back at UFC 178 and, as you’ll see in the video below, Garbrandt shaved a few seconds off that they when he faced Mizugaki at UFC 202 last August.
