Conor McGregor, the co-owner of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC), will be on-hand in Florence this weekend to host a press conference to preview the fight league’s debut event in Italy.
BKFC Italy, which takes place in the iconic Palozzo Wanny in Florence, Italy on Saturday, April 26, is set to be headlined by a cruiserweight rematch between World Champion Chris Camozzi and the former two-weight world champ Lorenzo ‘The Juggernaut’ Hunt. Also featured will be a battle pitting the third-ranked welterweight Rico ‘Bon Bon’ Franco against the Irish bare-knuckle legend Jimmy Sweeney, with the BKFC European Title up for grabs.
“Italy has a wealth of BKFC fans and we are thrilled to make our promotional debut on April 26 as we continue our international expansion,” David Feldman, founder and president of BKFC, said. “The rematch between Chris Camozzi and Lorenzo Hunt has all the makings of a ‘Fight of the Year’ clash. Our co-main event, the third fight between Rico Franco and Jimmy Sweeney matches two of the toughest bare-knuckle fighters from Europe.”
As for Camozzi, who was defeated by split decision by Hunt in their first meeting back in September 2023, he says the time for revenge has come.
“The first fight against Lorenzo Hunt left too many questions unanswered. This time I’ll make sure to finish this fight and leave no doubt. This is my belt and no one is taking it,” he said. “I’ve been vocal about staying active so I’m happy to get a title defense in right away. The goal is the same and Lorenzo Hunt will be put to sleep April 26th.”
“Fighting in Italy is another amazing experience to add to my career of traveling the world. I’m second generation Italian/American and the only champion with Italian roots. I’ll make sure the fans get their money’s worth.”
Hunt, though, is more than hopeful of adding a second win over Camozzi to his bare-knuckle ledger.
“I am the best, these guys only shine in my absence and now that I’m back I will reestablish my dominance in BKFC,” he noted.
“I feel no remorse for anyone who tries to stop me, Chris Camozzi felt the weight of my punches and he took home a concussion and a broken orbital as a reward for challenging me. This time it will be much worse for him. I’m glad I get to retire him in Italy, I will add his name to the long list of history’s fall of gladiators in Florence, Italy on April 26.”
The BKFC Italy launch press conference will be hosted by BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor this Sunday, February 16 at 4:00 p.m. CET / 10:00 a.m. ET from the Palazzo di Parte Guelfa, in Florence and will be streamed on The BKFC App and YouTube page.
