Conor McGregor says he is feeling “absolutely amazing” ahead of his return to the Octagon, with the former two-division champion set to face Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas after a five-year absence.
The Irish fighter will end his lengthy hiatus in a rematch against Holloway, with the bout scheduled to take place at welterweight. McGregor said his preparations have focused on hard work behind the scenes rather than public displays during training camp.
“I feel great. I feel absolutely amazing. Stellar,” McGregor told The Mac Life. “The work has been exceptional. No corners cut. You know, no flash. We’ve been quiet this camp, and we’ve been at work. So, that’s confidence. If there’s a lack of confidence, you need to share things to get this ego boost. We don’t need it. We’ll do it on the night. I’m excited by it. I’m excited by my team and my country.”
McGregor also outlined his expectations for the contest, saying: “Danger will be everywhere inside the Octagon for Max. We are very aware of him in this gym, in this camp.”
“Listen, there’s a different thud when you fight against me. I fought against Max many years ago, and I look forward to my improvements on it.”
McGregor and Holloway are due to meet on July 11 at UFC 329 in Las Vegas, with both fighters preparing for a contest at 170-pounds. McGregor has previously competed three times at welterweight, while Holloway is set to make his divisional debut.
The matchup marks McGregor’s first appearance since his last Octagon outing five years ago and renews his rivalry with Holloway, whom he previously defeated earlier in their UFC careers.
