Max Holloway turned in a career-best performance on Saturday night to blitz Calvin Kattar through all five rounds to begin the UFC’s latest series of events on ‘Fight Island’ in Abu Dhabi and per his coach, Tyson Chartier, Kattar was left with a series of injuries following the 25-minute scrap.
Holloway landed an outstanding 445 significant strikes and averaged one strike thrown for every two seconds of the fight. Try as he might (and boy, did he ever) Holloway was unable to put away the tough Bostonian Kattar — but he has been left with a series of injuries from the fight which will no doubt leave him facing an extended spell out of the game.
Per Dana White, Kattar was taken directly to hospital following the main event where he was told that he had suffered a broken nose in the fight as well as a nasty gash on his scalp as a result of a slicing Holloway elbow which required 8 staples to stem the bleeding.

The post-fight medical suspensions for the event have yet to be released but it is highly likely that Kattar will face an extended absence before being cleared to compete once again.
Holloway’s win snaps a run of two straight defeats to 145-pound champ Alexander Volkanovski and re-establishes his credentials for a title bout after the mooted Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega fight later this year.
