As reported yesterday, it has been confirmed by the UFC that Gunnar Nelson and Neil Magny will meet in a welterweight clash in the co-main event of the UFC’s first trip to the English city of Liverpool.
The addition of Nelson vs. Magny joins the heavily speculated (though not yet announced) main event featuring Darren Till and Stephen Thompson. The results of both of the featured bouts will provide some clarity atop a 170-pound division in which champion Tyron Woodley is currently out of action as he recovers from shoulder surgery underwent late last year.
Nelson comes into the bout on the back of the first knockout loss of his professional career, though the manner of which that transpired during last summer’s UFC Glasgow main event opposite Santiago Ponzinibbio was the source of considerable contention.
