Like him or not, Ferguson is unarguably one of the best UFC lightweights in the world.

Facing off against former 155-pound champion Rafael Dos Anjos at UFC Mexico, Ferguson put on a fantastic performance en route to a unanimous decision win, with all three judges scoring it 48-47 in the favour of ‘El Cucuy’.

Ferguson now has won nine fights in a row, a feat no other lightweight has ever done. With the win over Dos Anjos, his case for a title shot against the winner of UFC 205 main event Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor is markedly strong.

Post fight, Ferguson negated to give a post-fight interview, short of bellowing “Viva Mexico” into the microphone.

With Ferguson’s victory in the books, fans can now look ahead to next week’s event, UFC 205 — the biggest card ever put on by the UFC.

Elsewhere on the card Diego Sanchez outpointed Polish newcomer Marcin Held in a lightweight clash in the co-main event, Ricardo Lamas tapped Charles Oliveira with a second round guillotine and Martin Bravo TKO’d Claudio Puelles. There were also wins for Alexa Grasso, Erik Perez, Joe Soto and Max Griffin.
