Tonight, Zhang Weili and Joanna Jedrzejczyk put on one of the greatest fights in UFC history, regardless of gender.
The two strawweights went back and forth for five rounds, appearing evenly matched throughout the entire affair. While Zhang may have landed more power shots, Jedrzejczyk would land more volume, and the two would throw near mirror combinations repeatedly.
In the end, it was a split decision for Zhang Weili, with two judges scoring it 48-47 in her favour, with one scoring 48-47 for Jedrzejczyk.
Realistically, it’s hard to say either woman lost, and no doubt in years to come, the contest will be entered into the UFC Hall of Fame.
