‘You’ve got to be able to do everything and that’s what DC has done very well’: Jon Jones predicts Cormier win at UFC 230

Jones tips DC to beat Lewis, though he hopes he is wrong.

To date, Jon Jones stands alone as the only man to have defeated Daniel Cormier in mixed martial arts competition but Derrick Lewis will attempt to add his name to that very short list on Saturday night inside Madison Square Garden.

Jones, though, doesn’t think that ‘The Black Beast’ will have much success and predicts that his perennial rival Cormier will successfully defend his heavyweight championship in the featured attraction at UFC 230.

“I’m a big fan of Derrick Lewis. I’ve got to say that. He’s hilarious,” Jones said via ESPN.

“I do have DC winning the fight. DC is very fast,” Jones explained. “For his frame you wouldn’t assume that he’s fast but he’s quick and very well rounded and that’s the key to being on top at this game.

“You’ve got to be able to do everything and that’s what DC has done very well, so DC’s going to win more than likely.”

That said, Jones says that he is hoping for a Derrick Lewis victory but his pre-fight thoughts remain very much in line with the Vegas oddsmakers who have the champion listed as the heavy favourite.
