China has a UFC champion.

Tonight, Weili Zhang met Jessica Andrade in Shenzhen to compete for the UFC strawweight title. She won it in under a minute.

Very early on in round one, Zhang landed big shots to the Brazilian champion, who fired back with wide hooks. As Andrade closed the range, confident in her ability to out power the challenger, Zhang landed elbows, punches and knees that cracked Andrade in the chin repeatedly, who staggered backwards visibly hurt.

From there, Zhang landed another big shot that sent Andrade to the canvas out knocked out.

It was a picture perfect performance for Zhang, and a home run for the UFC’s event in China, as fans left with the first ever Chinese champion. Her message? Simple: “My name is Zhang Weili. I’m from China. Remember me!”
