Saturday night could be the end of an era in the UFC bantamweight division — but could it also be the start of another?

In the UFC 292 main event from the TD Garden in Boston, Aljamain Sterling will look to cement his legacy even further as one of the greatest 135-pound fighters in history. A win, he has said to the media this week, almost certainly means he will relinquish his title and move up to the featherweight division in a bid to become the latest two-division champ in promotional history.

But there is one more obstacle to clear: Sean O’Malley. The surging contender has earned a UFC title shot on the back of an impressive run at 135, including last October’s split decision win against Petr Yan, and if ‘Sugar’ is successful in getting his hand raised late on Saturday night, that could signal the beginning of another extended championship reign. We find out, one way or another, in a matter of hours.
