It is an arguable point that the two top fighters in the UFC’s women’s strawweight division both hail from Poland.

One, of course, is the reigning and seemingly unbeatable champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The other is one of the few fighters to put Joanna Champion in trouble inside the octagon, Karolina Kowalkiewicz.

Kowalkiewicz faces fellow top contender Claudia Gadelha at UFC 212 this weekend in a pivotal bout which will go a long way to determining the next challenger for Jedrzejczyk.

Much like her compatriot, Kowalkiewicz possesses a diverse range of kickboxing attacks allied with an underrated ground game and it’s that latter part which she might be forced to rely upon when she faces Gadelha, one of the toughest grapplers in the division.

Kowalkiewicz faced another strong grappler in Rose Namajunas last July in the bout which secured her position as challenger to the dominant Jedrzejczyk at UFC 205, and you can watch the match in full below.
