Junior Dos Santos will attempt to regain the UFC heavyweight title which has been absent from his waist for nearly five years when he challenges Stipe Miocic for the sport’s top honour this weekend at UFC 211 in Dallas.

Miocic has been in top form recently, winning each of his bouts by knockout over the course of the last two years — three of them inside the first round. But when the Croat/American faced Junior Dos Santos back in December 2014, that was the last blemish on his 16-2 professional record.

And it’s easy to see why. Dos Santos is one of the best strikers that the heavyweight division has ever seen, with 12 of his 18 wins coming by way of knockout. One such victim was former top heavyweight contender (and fellow Brazilian) Gabriel Gonzaga and when they met all the way back in 2010, it was clear that JDS was going to have a big say in the future of the heavyweight division.
