There have been few fighters in UFC history quite like Stephen Thompson.

The two-time UFC welterweight title contender, now 41, has fought near the summit of the 170-pound division for more than a decade and during that time has rolled out some of the most spectacular moments we’ve ever seen in the cage — including impressive finishes against the likes of Robert Whittaker and Johny Hendricks, as well as decision wins over fighters of the calibre of Jorge Masvidal, Rory MacDonald, Vicente Luque and Geoff Neal.

A December 2023 loss to the unbeaten Shavkat Rakhmonov in his most recent bout has likely put paid to any ambitions of claiming undisputed gold in the UFC welterweight frame but it certainly hasn’t dulled his appetite for competition and in the featured prelim of this weekend’s UFC 307 event from Salt Lake City, Utah, Thompson will take on the dangerous Joaquin Buckley; a fighter in the midst of a four-fight win streak.

Thompson’s last win in the UFC came a year before that in December 2022 against Kevin Holland, and you can watch that performance in full below.
