On Saturday night in Las Vegas one of the most experienced middleweights on the UFC roster, Jack Hermansson, will seek to impose a road block on the apparent surge of new contender Joe Pyfer up the 185-pound rankings.

Despite not quite getting to the summit of the UFC’s middleweight fold over his 31-fight professional career, the Swedish-Norwegian Hermansson is one of the most dependable, solid athletes in the division. His UFC career has seen him defeat well-regarded names like Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, Kelvin Gastelum and Chris Curtis — as well as coming up marginally short in a razor-thin split decision loss to Sean Strickland two years ago.

Against Pyfer, though, he faces a young fighter with designs on the title and, judging by him defeating Francis Ngannou’s record on the punch machine, absolute thunder in his fists.
