There aren’t many fighters on the UFC roster with quite the same appetite for a scrap as Dan Hooker.

The Kiwi will look to extend his current winning streak in the UFC to three and leapfrog into the top ten in the UFC lightweight fold when he takes on the tough Pole Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305 in Perth, Australia this weekend — and judging by the variety of performances he has put forth in his ten year, 21-fight career with the organisation to date, both men will leave the cage very much displaying the fact that they’ve just been in a fistfight.

Like so many in his native New Zealand, Hooker grew up playing both codes of rugby (union & league) before moving to kickboxing and, eventually, mixed martial arts. And as you might expect of someone with that particular brand of sporting lineage, ‘The Hangman’ feels at ease in a firefight, as evidenced many times over in his decade-long run in the UFC.

One of those fights came earlier this year against the ranked Jalin Turner and you can watch it in full below.
