For quite a while now standout UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad has been stating his case for a world title fight at 170-pounds.

On Saturday night at UFC 288 against fellow contender Gilbert Burns, he finally gets his chance. The winner of this bout, UFC president Dana White has suggested, will jump to the top of the line when it comes to identifying a 170-pound challenger to take on either Leon Edwards, or his presumptive next opponent Colby Covington.

And a glance at Muhammad’s recent record shows why he is so highly regarded in a division ripe with legitimate contenders. Dating back to the start of 2017, Muhammad has been defeated just once in the UFC and holds an impressive 12 victories (and an eye-poke no-contest against Edwards back in March 2021.)

But it was his latest offering in the cage back in October against the then-unbeaten Sean Brady which was perhaps the most impressive of all his recent wins. Check that one out below.
