Should there be any last minute hitches ahead of Saturday’s UFC 286 main event, Colby Covington is on hand to answer the call.

Rumours that the former multiple-time world title challenger had travelled to London as a potential replacement fighter were confirmed at Friday’s early weigh-ins in the English capital when ‘Chaos’ stepped on the scales to register welterweight championship weight of 170-pounds ahead of tomorrow night’s trilogy fight between champion Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman.

UFC officials had been tight-lipped as to Covington’s potential involvement, with both Edwards and Usman also apparently unaware of Covington’s attendance at the event when they were questioned about it during Thursdays pre-fight press conference. At this point, though, it appears unlikely that Covington will actually compete given that both Edwards and Usman successfully made weight on Friday morning — but as was proven recently by Alexander Volkanovski, appearing as a back-up fighter at an event — even if you aren’t used — is a good way of potentially cementing a future world title shot.
