Undisputed world lightweight champion Katie Taylor has her hands full with her rematch against the gritty Delphine Persoon later this month but should she emerged from that tussle unscathed, promoter Eddie Hearn suggests that she wants to concentrate on ‘legacy fights’ — with one of them possibly being against former UFC world champion Cris Cyborg.

Taylor emerged victorious last year in her first fight with Persoon, a battle which was considered to be the toughest battle of the Irish woman’s professional career to date. The two standouts will go head-to-head once again on August 22 at the Matchroom Boxing series of events taking place in Eddie Hearn’s back garden — after that, though, Hearn says that Taylor may take on some interesting challenges.

“She wants Persoon, she wants [Amanda] Serrano, she wants [Cecilia] Braekhus, she wants  [Cris] Cyborg. I’m not saying she’s done after that, but that’s what motivates her,” Hearn said.

A fight with the seven-weight world champion Serrano remains perhaps the most intriguing post-Persoon option but difficulties in arranging that fight for this summer have led to interest on Hearn’s side cooling.

This potentially leaves an option open for Cyborg. The Brazilian has no professional boxing experience but has several kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts added to her extensive MMA career. Added to that her position on the Bellator roster (presumably) not presenting too many obstacles to a high profile showdown, it seems like this could indeed be an attractive possibility for the Bray native.

Taylor has also been linked to bouts with boxers-turned-MMA-fighters Holly Holm and Heather Hardy.
