At last weekend’s UFC 219 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Cris Cyborg cemented her status as the sport’s most dominant female fighter with a unanimous decision victory against former bantamweight queen Holly Holm to defend the UFC featherweight title, while in the co-main event Khabib Nurmagodemov neutralised the threat of Edson Barboza to claim a lob-sided unanimous decision of his own.
UFC 219 might not have had all the firewords that, say, UFC 217 in New York City had but its top two bouts certainly provided a level of intrique. Cyborg delivered a measured performance, negating the technical striking of Holm and implementing her own savage style of striking to take the fight.
