Donald Cerrone now owns the most wins and most finishes in UFC history. He earned those records in front of a hometown crowd and family by defeating Mike Perry — who was cornered by Cerrone’s old coaches — in a mature performance.

Cerrone, who is often accused of being a slow starter and anxious fighter, showed real composure right away and looked measured and relaxed in the early going. The end came towards the end of round one when Perry took Cerrone to the canvas and Cerrone managed to lock in an armbar.

In his post-fight interview, Cerrone pledged he’d be returning to the lightweight division next, and warned lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov that “Cowboy’s back.”
