Cris Cyborg isn’t one for upsets.
The UFC women’s featherweight champion met Yana Kunitskaya in the main event of UFC 222 in what could have potentially been a banana skin for her current reign of terror. In one round, Cyborg ensured that wasn’t to be the case. The Brazilian came out strong, hitting Kunitskaya almost immediately with a big overhand right that dropped her. While Kunitskaya managed to stall the champion for a moment, it was a case of rinse and repeat for Cyborg, who got the stoppage win in the first.
After the fight, Cyborg made no hesitation in voicing who she’d like to face next, calling for a champion vs. champion bout with Amanda Nunes.
“All glory to God. I train all the time so I took this fight on short notice but I felt very prepared,” Cyborg said, post-fight. “I am waiting for Amanda [Nunes} now. She called me out and I want to fight her. I just want to remind everyone that she called me out and, when you call out Cyborg, Cyborg will answer.”
Yet another vicious ground and pound finish for Cyborg 👏
