UFC 229 should have been the highlight of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s career.

After defeating Conor McGregor in the fourth round of the main event, Nurmagomedov scaled the cage and leapt at McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis, who began fighting with Nurmagomedov. That instantly made things descend into a brawl, with a member of Nurmagomedov’s team scaling the fence and attacking McGregor from behind.

McGregor was then led from the Octagon, with Nurmagomedov remaining behind and demanding his world title. UFC president Dana White then instructed Nurmagomedov to return to the back, telling him on air that if he put the belt round Nurmagomedov’s waist, the crowd would be infuriated to the point of throwing things.

This is a breaking story, and will be updated as events continue.
