Tony Ferguson‘s 12-fight win streak in the UFC’s lightweight division seems quite a while ago now after ‘El Cucuy’ dropped this third successive fight last weekend to Beneil Dariush.

Ferguson lost all three rounds in the fight, and also appeared close to being submitted after he was caught in a deep heel hook in the second round which caused Ferguson to cry out in pain. He didn’t tap, however, but was unable to mount any significant offence to turn the tide in his favor.

As pointed out by TheMacLife in the post-fight presser, Ferguson has now landed just 30 strikes in his last 30 minutes of Octagon time but Ferguson doesn’t seem to be too downbeat following his latest loss — if his latest Instagram post is anything to go by.

Ferguson’s next move at 155-pounds remains unclear but it does seem to be the case that, if he is to re-establish himself as a top contender once more, he will have to piece together another sequence of victories. But having lost fights now to Dariush, Justin Gaethje, and the new champion, Charles Oliveira, it might be an arduous path back to the top for the 37-year-old.
