Next year will be starting off with one of the biggest UFC heavyweight title fights in history.

Stipe Miocic is set to defend his title against fast rising terror Francis Ngannou, who knocked out Alistair Overeem last Saturday to become the new number one contender. The UFC are aiming to have the duo headline UFC 220 in Boston on January 20. MMAFighting first reported the news.

It has all the makings of a classic.

Miocic has been one of the most well rounded heavyweight champions ever, and is just one win away from breaking the title defence record for the division. Ngannou on the other hand, has laid waste to anyone he’s faced, showing unbelievable power and a talent for learning his craft quickly.

The event will also feature a co-main event of Daniel Cormier vs. Volkan Oezdemir.
