Sean O’Malley has been suspended by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for six months after the banned substance ostarine was found in his system.

Ostarine is a ‘selective androgen receptor modulator’, and was picked up by the UFC’s anti-doping partner USADA earlier this year. O’Malley will be eligible to return on March 5, 2019. He is still yet to hear a judgement by USADA themselves, although the NSAC has a history of working along similar guidelines of USADA.

Below is a statement by the young fighter, who became popular via Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, as the first athlete to go public on his own accord after USADA ceased to reveal temporary suspensions until deliberation on the failed tests had been concluded.
