Charlie Ward has his redemption fight in the UFC.

The SBG welterweight will face Englishman Galore Bofando in his second UFC bout at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on July 16th. Ward’s UFC debut, a first round loss to undefeated Abdul Razak Alhassan, took place in Belfast last November and now the Irishman has another chance to show his skills on the highest stage of the sport.

The news was first reported by Peter Carroll in the Irish Daily Mirror.

In April Conor McGregor took to Instragram to announce that Ward will fight on the Glasgow card. “I am happy to announce that Charlie Ward will have his redemption fight on the UFC Scotland card,” McGregor posted.

“It is hard work and focus from here on in for him. He must not only win here. He must dominate. I am confident he will make things right and show his true fighting capabilities.”

Englishman Bafondo, known for his striking, holds a 4-2 record with all of his bouts taking place in the UK’s Ultimate Challenge MMA promotion. Both of his losses have come as a result of illegal knees and he has finished three of his wins via knockout. His most recent bout came in February of 2015, a first round stoppage of Kester Mamba.
