One door closes, one door opens.

Just hours after news broke Luke Rockhold was injured and out of his UFC 230 contest with Chris Weidman, it seems the UFC have already found a way to keep the New Yorker active in his hometown. Weidman will now face Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza, who was already scheduled to fight David Branch on the card. The promotion will now look for a replacement to keep Branch at the event. Brett Okamoto first reported the news.

Rockhold was forced to cancel his contest with Weidman, a rematch from 2015, after suffering a series of injuries in training.

Speaking to ESPM Rockhold revealed his left shin recently got infected (after being surgically repaired earlier this year), which caused a stem-cell graft to be inserted. After that, he sprained his right knee and also recently broke his nose.
