Chatter on social media is suggesting that the UFC is expected to announce a bout between ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas for the promotion’s first event in Long Island to take place on July 22nd.

The organisation confirmed their debut Long Island event early Friday afternoon. The event, officially titled UFC of Fox 25 will be housed in the Nassau Coliseum and will be the UFC’s fifth event in New York State since MMA was legalised in the region in 2016.

While no fights have yet been officially announced for the card, reports on Twitter suggest that the UFC is looking to book a main event bout between featherweights Chan Sung Jung and Ricardo Lamas. If the rumoured bout does come to fruition it will be the second time the two fighters have been paired together, following their scheduled bout in July 2013 at UFC 162. The fight never happened, as Jung was pulled from the bout to replace the injured Anthony Pettis in an ultimately unsuccessful title bout against José Aldo.

Long Island is the home of several members of the UFC roster such as Chris Weidman, Aljamain Sterling, Gian Villante and others, all of whom could potentially be candidates for a place on the card.
