UFC 245 will have three title fights atop the card.

Fans are set to see Max Holloway defend his featherweight title against Alexander Volkanovski, Amanda Nunes defend her bantamweight title against Germaine De Randamie and now Kamaru Usman will finally fight longtime rival Colby Covington for the welterweight belt. ESPN first reported Usman vs. Covington’s addition.

It’s been a longtime coming.

Covington defeated Robbie Lawler to cement himself as number one contender to Usman’s title earlier this year, but when the UFC tried to make the fight as the main event for November’s UFC 244, Covington had demands in negotiations that the UFC were unwilling to meet. From there, further problems with Usman meant the promotion turned to Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal.

Now, the fight has finally been finalised, meaning Covington will get a shot at an undisputed world title for the first time in his career. It also means he and Usman will have an opportunity to settle their long running dislike for each other.

UFC 245 is set to take place on December 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
