It has been the best part of 18 months since we last saw Peter Queally in the cage when he earned a dramatic finish of UK prospect Ryan Scope in front of a packed house at Dublin’s 3 Arena in September 2019, but the SBG Ireland man finally has confirmation of his next bout.

After a subsequent Bellator Dublin fight with Brazilian vet Patricky Freire was shelved due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the fight has again been set and will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on May 7. The fight is due to air live on Showtime in the United States as part of the promotion’s recently-announced deal with the broadcaster.

News of the booking was first reported by MMA Fighting and confirmed by TheMacLife.

Freire, much like his twin brother Patricio, has been synonymous with Bellator MMA for much of his career but recently competed under the RIZIN banner where he advanced to their lightweight grand prix final where he was defeated by Tofiq Musayev. Freire has also won five straight for Bellator, including wins against Benson Henderson and Roger Huerta.

Queally, meanwhile, will be looking for his second victory with the promotion — with a win against the experienced Freire sure to shoot him up the organisation’s 155-pounds ranks.
