After suffering a health scare earlier this year that had him pulled from a title defense, Max Holloway will return to the Octagon to face Brian Ortega at UFC 231 in Toronto.

MMAJunkie first reported the news.

Holloway was set to meet Ortega in the co-main event of UFC 226 in July, only to begin showing concussion like symptoms as fight week began. After appearing near incoherent during a interview with Michael Bisping, the UFC made the choice to pull Holloway from the contest.

Since then, the featherweight champion has been undergoing tests, and while an exact reason for what happened has yet to be publicly released, he has been made eligible for a return.

In an increasingly rare occurrence in modern MMA, an interim title was not made in Holloway’s absence, with Ortega turning down a contest with Jeremy Stephens once Holloway’s issue became known.
