Matt Mitrione will face the winner of Ryan Bader or King Mo Lawal in his next outing. At Bellator 194, Mitrione met Roy Nelson in the main event, earning a victory on two of three of the judges scorecards.

In reality, it looked exactly as many predicted. For the first two rounds, Mitrione used his footwork and movement to avoid the big right hand and grappling. With those firmly on his side, Mitrione went into the third ahead, only to finally succumb to Nelson’s grappling.

At one point, Nelson even secured himself a crucifix, and was landing decent shots that had the referee stepping in to take a closer look, but Mitrione made it to the bell. One judge deemed Nelson as winning the third a 10-8, which would have meant a sudden death fourth round, but two of the judges went with Mitrione.

Mitrione will now advance in the tournament, and face either Bader or Lawal later this year.
