Perhaps the biggest rubber match in mixed martial arts history takes place this summer when Conor McGregor seeks a measure of revenge against Dustin Poirier in the UFC 264 main event.

The scores are currently tied at one win apiece in the McGregor-Poirier rivalry, with the winner of the fight which will take place inside the T-Mobile Arena in Sin City ideally positioned to receive the next world title shot to face the winner of this weekend’s fight between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler to declare a holder of the currently vacant 155-pound championship.

And in a wide-ranging Twitter Q&A, McGregor told fight fans that he will approach the fight with a snarl.

“Yes! I’ve been training my son since day 1. He will be ready if he decides to,” McGregor said of his son potentially entering the fight game one day, before he added that his preparations for the Poirier fight will see him encamp into training away from his family.

“I am going to do this fight away from the family also,” he said. “For a change. Fights and boppies and cuddles is a hard one to balance. I’m going into this one a wild dog.”

McGregor broached several other topics during the the Q&A, including saying that the first fight against Poirier – which he won by first round TKO – was the easiest fight of his career, and also added to the rumours that he may one day invest into a football club by saying that he has interest in both Glasgow Celtic and Manchester United — two of the best supported football clubs in Ireland.
