Ian Machado Garry’s dominant performance against Neil Magny at UFC 292 has been reflected in the official welterweight rankings.
The Dubliner extended his perfect career to 13-0 (6-0 UFC) with a conclusive, 15-minute drubbing of veteran fighter Magny, with one judge even scoring the fight a rare 30-24 in his favour. The win, though, wasn’t quite enough for Machado Garry to crack the division’s top ten, with him landing in eleventh position in the fight league’s latest rankings.
This may well come as a disappointment for the Irishman, who told the media in advance of his UFC 292 that his pre-fight press conference would be the latest interview he would ever have to do as a fighter ranked outside the top ten.
But judging by the manner of his performance, it seems likely that this may well just be delaying the inevitable.
