Holly Holm might just get her chance to win another boxing world title.

According to a report from the Irish Independent Holm, the only fighter to have won high level titles on both boxing and mixed martial arts, has emerged as the favourite to take on Katie Taylor in a rumoured bout at the 82,300 capacity Croke Park later this year after a reported breakdown in negotiations with Amanda Serrano’s camp.

Taylor defeated Serrano in the biggest women’s boxing match in history in Madison Square Garden late last month, while Holm lost by controversial split decision in last weekend’s UFC main event in Las Vegas opposite Ketlen Vieira.

Holm has won several world titles in boxing and has long been linked to a bout with Taylor, whose camp have expressed their opinion that they see Holm as a credible challenge to the undefeated, undisputed lightweight champion of the world.

Holm, though, spent the majority of her boxing career north of the 135-pound weight limit at which Taylor fights — but won her UFC world title by knocking out Ronda Rousey at that particular weight. She weighed in at 136-pounds for last weekend’s fight with Vieira.

Any fight between Holm and Taylor would need sign-off from Dana White, however, and it remains to be see if this would be a significant obstacle.

It is anticipated that details of the proposed Croke Park fight will be announced in the coming weeks.
