If there are two fighters in the UFC’s heavyweight division who could use a win to top up their title credentials towards the summit of the division, it is the two men who will meet in this weekend’s main event fight in the UFC’s Apex facility in Nevada.

Both Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alexander Volkov came up short in their last outings to Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall respectively but the winner of the heavyweight bout this weekend could propel themselves back towards the top five of the heavyweight fold — and the loser? Well, they are likely to fall out of the top ten altogether.

The two fighters will come into the bout with vastly different strategies. The giant Volkov has long been thought of as an outside fighter, someone who uses their extended frame to punish opponents from the outside with his (frankly underrated) power shots, while Rozenstruik is more of an inside fighter who will look to exchange heavy leather from the pocket.

Whoever ends up stamping their authority on the fight will see their chances to win increase but given Rozenstruik’s impressive power, he will be looking to end the proceedings quickly and violently — and add to the eight first-round finishes he already has on his record.

And speaking of those, check out his first-round buzzer beater knockout of Augusto Sakai from last summer in the video below:
