Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez has signed with ONE Championship.

Chatri Sityodtong, CEO of the promotion made the announcement with a video posted to his social media of Alvarez signing his new contract. It signals the end of Alvarez’ four year stint with the UFC with a promotional record of 4-3-1. He was last seen in a losing effort to Dustin Poirier in July.

“Hey guys, the moment of truth has arrived,” Alvarez said. “I know you’ve heard the rumours and they are true. I got the official contract from ONE FC, and we’re all signed up. … This couldn’t have went any smoother. Didn’t take too long, everybody’s happy, and I’m super excited. The Underground King is coming to ONE FC.”

The news confirms reports by ESPN’s Ariel Helwani that Alvarez was readying to move on, citing an incredible deal for someone in his career position. The deal represents one of — if not the — biggest free agent signing acquired by ONE, and shows their intent moving into 2019.
