Eddie Alvarez and Demetrious Johnson, the two biggest signings in ONE Championship history, will make their promotional debuts on the same night.
The pair are both scheduled to fight on March 31, at an event aptly titled “ONE: A NEW ERA.” The event will take place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan. It will be their first contests since leaving the UFC and signing with the Asian promotion over the past few months.
Alvarez will face Russian fighter Timofey Nastyuhkin (12-4), while Johnson is set to tangle with Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu (10-3).
But while Johnson and Alvarez might be the marquee names atop the bill, the promotion are stacking the card with plenty of talent to ensure first time viewers will stick around. Light heavyweight and middleweight champion Aung La N Sang, lightweight champion Eduard Folayang and women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee are all booked for the event.
