Dana White is actually having a physical Baddest Motherfucker in the Game (BMF) belt made, and it will be given to the winner of Nate Diaz vs. Jorge Masvidal.
While White had made mention of making a belt for the UFC 244 main event, at a press conference in New York today he confirmed the reports, saying he’d have it designed and made by the time the UFC rolls into town in November.
“When Nate did his interview that night, he basically said “this is for the baddest motherfucker in the game,” White said. “So, you know, this is one of those fights that after that interview, started to build a life of its own through the fans and the media, we didn’t seriously start talking about this fight until maybe a couple weeks later in a matchmaking meeting.”
“I said to my guys, ‘listen, tell me if I’m crazy but what if we think about actually having a baddest motherfucker in the game belt’ and my guys loved it and we started talking about it and we went in to the design team at the UFC, we started to design it.
“I will physically have that belt when I come back to New York. It will be ready.”
According to Diaz, his fight with Masvidal is in actuality a defense of the title, although White maintains it’s a one and done affair specially made for this contest.
